I started working in digital marketing back in 2014 after graduating with a Bachelor of Communications and majoring in Journalism and Marketing. For 5 years, I worked in various advertising agencies specialising in copywriting, branding, and paid ads.

Sounds good, right?

It wasn't. The ad industry is cut-throat, and agencies expect you to work well over your paid 40 hours per week (it's actually written into your employment contract!) for a very average salary that makes it hard to get ahead.

I'd start at 8am and be expected to stay past 6pm every day, usually longer if there was a deadline. I'd get home, maybe go to the gym and have dinner and some Netflix before going to bed early to do it all over again.

It wasn't a life, and I was miserable.

In 2017, I was fired from an agency that was making millions while overworking every single employee. I started my own digital agency, creating brands, websites and running the social media for a company who made various beauty products for subscription boxes.

It was fun, but it was hard work creating a digital marketing agency from the ground up—even with all of my agency experience!

In 2018, I decided to ditch the agency and start a product based business that predominantly sells online. It's been a fantastic creative outlet for the past 6 years (and counting!) but I wanted to add another wealth channel to my portfolio.
